Aloo Bhajia

Aloo bhajia, a perfect snack for monsoon. Thin potato slices coated with gram flour batter and deep fried till golden. Specialty of this snack is its simplicity, easily available ingredients and very simple method to prepare but monsoon season is incomplete without aloo pakora.

Ingredients-

  • 2 Potatoes

For batter-

  • 1 cup Gram Flour

  • 2 tab Sp. Rice flour

  • 2 Green Chili

  • 1/2 tsp. Red chili powder

  • 1 tsp. Coriander powder

  • 1 tab Sp. Chopped Coriander leaves

  • 1/2 Sp. Carom Seeds

  • ime it mea1/4 Sp. Asafoetida

  • Salt to taste

How To Make-

  1. wash and peel potatoes and cut into round thin slices.Dip into water otherwise potatoes will discolored.

  2. In a big bowl add all ingredients of batter and mix very well. Add water and make batter till coating consistency [It should not be too thick or not too thin].

  3. Drain all water of potatoes and put on sieve.

  4. Heat oil on medium heat. Add a small drop of batter,if it comes on the top of oil after 1-2 second , oil is ready.

  5. Coat potato slices in batter and add in the oil.

  6. Fry few slices at a time, turn and fry till golden.

  7. Remove on paper towel.

  8. Serve hot with green chutney and tomato ketchup.

Tips-

  1. Rice flour added crispiness in pakoras.

  2. To check the oil add one drop of batter if it comes out immediately, the oil will be too hot, if it comes after 1-2 second it means oil is on medium heat, if it takes too much time it means oil is not ready.
