Butter Chakli

Butter Chakli is very popular during festival like Diwali, Holi and Ganesh Chaturthi , It is easy to make tea time snack .

There are so many recipies of chakli made from rice flour, gram flour, self raising flour with the mixture of lentils flour and spices. I prepared this chakli from rice flour and urad dal flour. Urad dal flour gives a very crispy and crunchy texture and distinct taste and flavor also. To make chakli soft and crispy, butter is added. Asafotida and carom seed [Ajwain] make it more digestible.

Ingredients- 2 cup Rice Flour

½ cup Urad dal flour

¼ tsp. Turmeric Powder [optional]

1 tab Sp. Sesame Powder

¼ tsp. Asafotida

1/4 tsp. Carom seed

2 tab sp. Butter

½ tsp. Red Chili Powder

Method- 1. In a large bowl mix both flour and butter very nicely. 2.Add turmeric powder, chili powder, salt, Asafotida , sesame and carom seed, mix well. 3.Add water and knead soft dough. 4. Rest for 15 minutes. 5.Grease chakli maker with little oil and fill dough. 6. Place star mould and tighten the lid. 7.On the butter paper make spiral shape chakli. 8.Deep fry on indium heat, till golden brown. 9. You can also bake it on preheated oven for twenty minutes. 10 cool and serve. 11. Store in airtight container. Tips-

1. Do not make the dough too soft or too hard otherwise chaklis will Break.

2. once the dough is prepared, prepare the chakli immediately. 3. For healthier option you can add soya flour.
