Ganesh Chaturthi, a most important festival of Maharashtra, is a ten-day Hindu festival celebrated to honour Ganesha's birthday. The festival is usually celebrated for 10 days. People buy Lord Ganeshas images to keep in their houses as a divine guest for five to ten days. Puja and aarti are performed morning and evening with family members, friends and relatives. Sweets. modaks and ladoos are the favorite sweets of lord Ganesha and served as naivedhyam or bhog to lord Ganesha. On 10 day the image is then taken out ceremoniously and immerse to the river, sea or pond.
