Home made Nachos Chips


Nacho chips a maxican dish is a favorite snack of all age groups. Availability of so many brands prove the popularity of this snack. Nachos are crispy triangles and can be deep-fried or baked. Nacho Chips are quite different from other chips, due to the combination of maize flour and plain flour. Carom seeds and oregano add nice aroma and flavor in this dish. You can make salty and non spicy chips or add spices of your choice if you like your chips spicy. Plain nachos go well with a spicy dip or salsa.

This recipe of nacho chips takes little time and save so much money and calories.


Ingredients-

1 cup maize flour (makai ka atta)

1/2 cup wheat flour or plain flour (maida)

2 tb Sp. Oil

1/4 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)

1/2 tsp dried oregano

salt to taste

plain flour (maida) for rolling

oil for deep-frying

How to make-

  1. Take all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Gently mix them adding water to get a smooth and firm dough.

  2. Divide the dough into lemon-sized balls.

  3. Roll one dough ball into a round disk. Cut it in triangle shapes by drawing 6 or 8 lines as shown in the pic.

  4. Deep-fry few chips at a time, on a medium flame till they turn crisp and golden from both the sides. Drain on an absorbent paper.

  5. Repeat the procedure for all the dough balls.

  6. Crispy nachos are ready to eat. Store the remaining nachos in an air-tight container. It will stay fresh for a week in room temperature.

Tips-

  1. you can also bake these chips on 180 degree till crisp and golden.

  2. For making these nachos spicy, sprinkle on them a mix made of red chili powder, pepper powder, and salt when they are hot.

How to serve-

  1. They make an awesome dish when served with a salsa or a dip.

  2. Grate cheddar and mozzarella cheese over them, add a pinch of crushed chili flakes and some chopped onion greens then put under a hot grill for about 3 minutes to melt the cheese. Serve with soured cream.
