How to keep fresh Coriander leaves


We cannot imagine Indian food without Coriander leaves. So I always stock coriander leaves in my fridge. Today I will share some simple method to preserve Coriander leaves.

Store in airtight box- Trim the roots of coriander leaves. Wash under cold running water and let them drain in a strainer. Spread over a thick kitchen towel till the water is completely absorbed. Finely chop the leaves and place on kitchen towel. Take an airtight box and place a piece of newspaper inside the box. Place kitchen towel over it and place fresh leaves. Cover it with another kitchen towel over it. Place it in the fridge. it will stay fresh for 2 weeks.

Stand the whole bunch of leaves in a glass of water:

Open the bunch of coriander leaves. Loosen and remove black leaves. Fill enough water in a glass jar to cover the stems [not leaves]. Place coriander bunch in it, the stems will absorb the water and leaves will stay fresh. Loosely cover plastic bag over the jar [cover leaves and mouth of the jar] its limit the harsh air. Keep it in refrigerator. Change water periodically. It will stay fresh for 2 weeks.

Store in Ice cube tray-

Finely chopped coriander leaves and place in ice cube tray cover with enough water. Freeze until solid. Remove from the tray and store in ziplock bag. It can be stored for a year. When you want to use place ice cube over the strainer until ice melt and water drain out, place them on kitchen towel. In gravy you can add directly.
