Apple pie

A pastry filled with an apple stuffing and served warm or with some fruit crush, whipped cream, or ice cream. You can even refrigerate the apple pie and serve it later.


Eggless Pie Crust-

  • 1 cup wheat flour

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 to cup unsalted butter, cold and diced

  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

  • 1 t Sp.spoon milk

  • 1/4 t sp. salt

How to Make-

  1. In a food processor add flours, butter, salt, granulated sugar, pulse to get a breadcrumb consistency. It is a very important step, here the consistency of flours should be flaky, otherwise, add more butter. Then add in 1 tablespoon of milk and pulse until it forms a ball.

  2. Transfer it on a clean working surface or cover with a plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator before using it.

For Apple Pie Filling

  • 2 medium-sized apples, peeled and sliced

  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder

  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg powder or grated nutmeg

  • 2 tablespoons whole wheat flour

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • a few dots butter

How to Make-

Filling-

In a bowl add sliced apples, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder, sugar, and flour, mix well and keep aside.

For pie-

  1. Divide the dough into two or four equal according to your pie dish.

  2. Roll the dough on a dusted surface,.

  3. Transfer gently on the greased pie dish and press it towards the bottom and the edges.

  4. Arrange the filling evenly on it.

  5. Add dots of butter over it,

  6. Cover the pan with another rolled pie crust or cut strips and create a lattice pie crust.

  7. Brush with milk and sprinkle some sugar and cinnamon powder on top.

  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees c for 60 mins or till the crust has become golden and crisp.

  9. Serve warm or refrigerate it.

For lattice pie crust-

  1. Roll out two sheets of pie dough.

  2. Line a pie dish with one of the sheets.

  3. Cut the other sheet into even strips of I inch distance.

  4. Arrange horizontal and vertical strips, weaving them in an over-and-under pattern

.

Tips-

  1. You can also use store-bought pie dough

  2. Always make the lattice weave for fruit pies because the juicy filling does not bubble up during the baking process and the steam vent out.
