Instant bread dahi vada/dahi Gunjia

Dahi Vada is also popularly known as Dahi Bhalla. Soaked and drained deep fried lentil vadas are served with toppings like curd, chutneys and spices. It is very popular street food in India and also considered as a traditional feast dish.

Bread dahi vada or Dahi Gunjia is a quick and delicious version of the original dal vadas. There is no need of soaking, grinding and frying of dal --
8 slices of white bread
shredded coconut-2 tab sp
Grated Ginger -1 tsp.
Green chili finely chopped-2 tsp.
coriander leaves finely chopped-1 tab sp.
yogurt (curd, Dahi)-1/2 kg.
Tamarind chutney -2 tab sp.
salt to taste
Black salt-1/2 tsp.
Red chili powder-2 tsp.
Jeera Powder-2 tsp.
Chat Masala-1/2 tsp.(optional)
.Mix all the ingredients for filling, set aside.
Cut the edges of bread slices.
.Lightly wet the bread and press between both palm and squeeze out extra water.
put 2 teaspoons of filling in centre and fold the bread in triangle like gunjia shape Press the edges together with your fingers. Make sure the edges are sealed. filling rest of the gunjias in the same manner.For vada make round balls.
Serving the Gunjia or vadas-
.Whip the yogurt until smooth. Add the salt, jeera powder, black salt adjust to your taste.
.While serving, arrange vada in a bowl,pour beaten curd over it. cover vada with curd.Sprinkle red chili powder, jeera powder or some chat masala to your taste, Add some tamrind chutney, and few pieces of coriander leaves, .drizzle the tamarind chutney.
Bread dahi vadas are ready to serve.
