Panchamrut or Charnamrut

In Sanskrit, panch means five and Amrut means secret nectar. Panchamrut is a mixture of five foods used in Puja and Hindu religious occasions. In temple Panchamrut is distributed as prasad. Panchamrit is called as Panchamrutham in south India, Panchamrut in Maharashtra and Panchamrit or Charnamrit in North India. The recipe of Panchamrit varies from place to place but the five ingredients in panchamrut are same milk, yogurt, ghee, honey and Sugar. They all carry different qualities. Like- Milk is for the purity, Yogurt is for prosperity, Ghee is for strength, Honey is for sweetness, Sugar is for happiness.

These 5 ingredients have lots of health benefits. Panchamrut nourishes the skin and good for hair. It is also given to pregnant women for the good health of mother and fetus. it can be take in fast or vrat also.

Cusine Traditional Sweet

Preparation Time 10 Minutes


Ingredients-

  • Milk 1cup,

  • Thick curd 1 tab Sp.

  • Sugar ¼ cup,

  • Ghee ¼ tsp.

  • Honey: 1 t Sp.

  • tulsi (Indian basil) leaf 2-3

  • Ganga jal (if available): 1 tsp.

  • Fine chopped nuts 1/2 cup

  • Phool Makhana, cashew, coconut, almond, chironji,

How to Make-

  1. In a bowl add milk and sugar and mix well.

  2. Mix yogurt, ghee and honey.

  3. Add Ganga jal.

  4. Garnish with fine chopped nuts and tulsi (Indian basil) leaf.

Tips-

  1. In winter you can keep it outside for 12 hrs but in summers refrigerate it.

  2. Right Proportion of ingredients is very important in Panchamrit.

  3. Do not add any fruits in Panchamrut except banana.

  4. You can add more Ganajal if you like thin panchamrut.

  5. Use pure Ghee and Honey

Step By Step Recipe of Panchamrut or charnamrut-

lMix yogurt, ghee and honey. and mix well. Mix yogurt, ghee and honey.

Add Ganga jal.Garnish with fine chopped nuts and tulsi (Indian basil) leaf.
