Ram Ladoo [ Moong Dal pakode ]

Winter Special-

Ram Ladoo [ Moong Dal pakode ] A popular, tangy, lip-smacking winter street food of Delhi. Ram laddoo is not a sweet dish, this is a popular chat item of winter in North India.

Ingredients-

  • Yellow lentils (moong daal)-1 cup

  • Bengal gram (chana daal)-1/4 cup

  • Urad Dal- 1/4 cup

  • Green chilies - 3

  • chopped ginger- 2 tsp.

  • Fresh coriander- 2 tbsp.

  • Red chili powder- 1 tsp.

  • Asafoetida- 1/4 tsp

  • Cumin seeds- 1 tsp

  • Salt- 1 tsp.

  • To Garnish- Grated radish- 1 cup.

  • Fresh coriander- 1 tab Sp.

  • Lemon juice- 2tsp.

  • Chili powder- 1/2 tsp.

  • Black salt- 1 tsp.

  • Chat masala- 1 tsp.

  • Tamarind chutney- 1/2 cup

  • Green chutney- 3/4 cup


How to Make-

1. Clean, wash and soak dals separately for 3-4 hours. 2. Grind Channa dal with little water, add urad and moong dal; chopped ginger, chopped green chilies, chopped coriander leaves and grind again till smooth. 3. Transfer into a bowl and whisk well till the batter becomes light. 4. Add asafetida, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, salt. chop coriander leaves and whisk well till the batter becomes light and fluffy, 5. To check-take a small bowl of water and drop a small ball of batter in it, if it floats over the water then its ready to fry,if it sinks in the bottom then you need to beat it again till the drop floats on the water. 6. With fingers take little portion and drop into hot oil, deep fry on medium flame till golden. 7. Grate reddish mix chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice. 8. In a bowl take dal pakodas,press slightly, sprinkle chat masala and red chili powder, add green and tamarind chutney, add grated reddish over it, and sprinkle black salt and chili powder. Add chopped coriander leaves. serve hot.
