Sesame Almond Puffs


Sesame Almond puffs are baked and soaked in honey and fruit juice.

Ingredients

Filo sheets ----------------------------------------6

Butter melted------------------------------------2 tab Sp.

White Sesame seeds --------------------------1 tab Sp.

Black Sesame Seeds----------------------------1 tab Sp.

Almond filling

Almonds--------------------------------------------12

Cashew nut----------------------------------------5

makhana--------------------------------------------1 tab Sp.

Chironji----------------------------------------------1 tab Sp.

Raisins------------------------------------------------8

Coconut Powder----------------------------------1 tab Sp.

Condensed Milk-----------------------------------1 tab Sp.

Butter-------------------------------------------------1 tab Sp.

Cinnamon powder--------------------------------1/4 t Sp.

Honey syrup

Honey---------------------------------------------------2 tsp

Fruit crush--------------------------------------------2 tab Sp.

Water---------------------------------------------------2 tab Sp. How to Make-

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a large oven tray with non-stick baking sheet.

  2. In a pan, heat the butter, add all chopped nuts and roast 2-3 minutes.

  3. Add condensed milk, coconut powder and cinnamon powder and mix very well.

  4. Lay the filo sheets on cutting board and cover with damp tea towel.

  5. Spread melted butter on it and place a tablespoon of the almond filling at the end closest to you.

  6. Fold the bottom right corner up and over to the left side so the edge of the pastry remains straight and a triangle starts to form.

  7. Continue folding alternating corners until the strip of pastry is finished and a small triangle forms. brush with a little more melted butter and sprinkle with both sesame seeds. Repeat with the remaining filo sheets.

  8. Place on the lined tray, Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until crisp and golden.

  9. Meanwhile, to make the honey syrup, combine the honey, water and fruit crush in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

  10. When the puffs are baked, transfer them to a shallow heatproof dish and arrange in a single layer. Immediately pour over the hot honey syrup, turn and allow to soak.

  11. Serve.

Tip

  1. These puffs will keep in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

  2. If you do not have filo sheets, you can make with fresh dough. Take 1 cup maida and 2 tab Sp. butter and make a firm dough and make thin sheets.
