The Nachoes Dal Pakwan Chaat





The Nachos Dal Pakwan Chaat is inspired by delicious classic Sindhi breakfast dish Dal Pakwan where the crispy maida deep fried puris are topped with hot chana dal, some onion, green chutney, sweet chutney and pomegranates. in this recipe we make it with twist, we made spinach nachos and baked them instead of frying and served with dal, chutneys and fresh salad.You can also serve this mouth watering snack as an evening snack or as an appetiser for parties.

For Dal:

  • 250 gm. channa Dal

  • 1 onion

  • 1 Tomato big finely chopped

  • 1 inch ginger

  • 2 green chilies

  • 4 curry patta

  • 1 t sp. Cumin seeds

  • 1/2 t Sp. turmeric

  • 1/2 t sp. Red chili

  • 1/4 tsp. Asafoetida

  • 1-2 t sp. Mango powder

  • 1t sp. oil

  • 2 t Sp. butter

For Serving-

  • 2 tab sp. coriander leaves finely chopped

  • 1 bowl finely chopped salad

  • 1 tab sp. tamarind chutney

  • 1 tab sp, green chutney

How To Make-

  1. Wash dal 2-3 times and soak for 1 hour.

  2. Heat oil or butter, add ginger, curry patta and cumin seed cook for a minute.

  3. Add green chilies and onion and cook till slightly brown.

  4. Add tomatoes and fry till cooked properly.

  5. Add all spices and dal, fry 2-3 minutes, add 2 cups of water, salt, close the lid and wait for a whistle, simmer the gas and cook another 10 minutes.

  6. Allow the cooker to cool down, open the lid and check the dal, it should be tender.

  7. For tempering-In a small pan heat some butter, add cumin seed, curry patta, green chilies, cook for a minute, add red chili and add the tempering into the dal and cook for 2-3 minutes.

  8. Add Mango powder and mix well.

How to Serve:

  1. In a plate arrange nacho chips.

  2. Spread some cooked Dal and garnish with chutneys and fresh salad.
