Upvas Recipe-Raw Banana Dahi Gunjiya-

Dahi Gunjia, a stuffed lentil dumpling is usually made with Urad Dal but My Mom gives it a little twist and makes them with raw bananas, thus making them the perfect Vrat snack.

Green bananas are full of fibre, High in Potassium and B6 ,has quality of better absorption of nutrients. Since raw bananas have low sugar content, these are a great option for diabetics. Raw banana consumption slows down the digestive process which helps in keeping full for longer so it is ideal for fasting.

We topped these melt in mouth raw banana dahi gunjias with creamy yogurt, sweet khajoor chutney and flavorful spice seasoning. You can serve these dahi Gunjias as a snack or along with main course. Ingredients-

Raw banana: 2 Potato: 1 medium size Paneer- 150 gm. Oil for frying Salt to taste Beaten thick curd- 1cup, Sugar: ½ tsp, Sendha Salt- to taste Sweet khajoor chutney-4 tbsp, Red chili powder: ½ tsp, Cumin powder: ½ tsp, Chaat masala -optional Filling- Fresh Nariyal-1 tb sp Chironji- 1 tsp Kishmish-1 tsp Green chilli-1 finally chopped Coriander and mint leaves-2 tb sp How to Make-

1. Boil banana and potato in pressure cooker, cool down for some time and grate them. 2. Mix grated Paneer and salt, and knead the mixture with your hands like dough. Dough mixture should be thick. 3. Take small portion of dough and make balls, put it on a Plastic sheet Press them gently to give them round shape, Place a teaspoon of dry fruit stuffing in the center. Hold two top corners of the plastic sheet and bring towards you to join them with the other two corners. Deep fry or shallow fry till Gunjias became golden brown.Fry them one at a time and very gently. 4. Remove the gunjiyas from oil and instantly drop them in a bowl full of salted water for 5 min which will discard excess oil and soften the gujiyas. But if you're planning to store them for later then don't do it right away.

How to Serve- 1. To serve, beat curd with little sugar and salt. Dip into the curd and serve in a plate, top it with extra curd, sprinkle cumin powder, red chili powder and chat masala. 2. Garnish with coriander and mint leaves. Serve with Sweet Khajoor chutney. Tip-

1.You can make these dahi Gunjiyas in advance and store in fridge. When serve dip into warm water for 5 to 8 min.

Step By Step Recipe of raw Banana Dahi Gunjia-

1.Boil banana and potato in pressure cooker, cool down for some time and grate them. Mix grated Paneer and salt, and knead the mixture with your hands like dough. Dough mixture should be thick.

2. Take small portion of dough and make balls, put it on a Plastic sheet Press them gently to give them round shape, Place a teaspoon of dry fruit stuffing in the center.


3.Hold two top corners of the plastic sheet and bring towards you to join them with the other two corners.


4.Fry them one at a time and very gently.


5.Remove the gunjiyas from oil and instantly drop them in a bowl full of salted water for min which will discard excess oil and soften the gujiyas


6.To serve, beat curd with little sugar and salt. Dip into the curd and serve in a plate, top it with extra curd, sprinkle cumin powder, red chili powder and chat masala. Garnish with coriander and mint leaves. Serve with Sweet Khajoor chutney.
